What planet is Joe Scarborough living on?

We joke that the folks of MSNBC live on a different planet from the rest of us, but how else could you explain the latest comments from morning show host Joe Scarborough about President Obama's relationship with the national media?

“Isn’t it ironic? Democrats come in, and I think they get a much freer pass to the White House than Republicans, but it always seems to be the Democrats, the Clintons and now Barack Obama, that has this terrible relationship with the media,” Scarborough said.

Scarborough's comments were made during a discussion with The New Republic‘s Chris Hughes and Franklin Foer about their interview with President Obama.

Obama does have a "terrible" relationship with the media -- it's downright incestuous.  Remember that Pew study of the network's coverage leading up to the presidential election last fall?  Terrible, indeed:

The Washington Free Beacon also points out that Scarborough's comments come just one week after senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett publicly thanked MSNBC for its coverage of Obama's first term.  “It’s been a good four years with you all as well.”

But the Obama administration repays the media for their love & devotion like an abusive boyfriend.  He doesn't call, he doesn't write... he doesn't even hold regular press conferences.  It's enough to make a girl (in this case, Joe Scarborough) go crazy.  But then, like a knight in shining armor, prince charming unveils some new progressive agenda item -- the latest being gun control -- and the media is once again head over heels for Obama.
