Cable news shuffle: CNN bids farewell to Matalin, Carville

Politics' dynamic duo is out at CNN, apparently because they weren't as readily available for guest spots as the cable news network would've liked.

I can see getting rid of James, but Mary...? Just kidding, just kidding.

From Politico:

The decision was CNN's, Carville said: "I was told that they wanted the contributors to be more available -- essentially, closer to Washington. I'm not always available, I don't live there."

Carville and Matalin, his wife, live in New Orleans, La. Matalin did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but Carville said both respected the network's decision and enjoyed their time as contributors there.

"I'm completely cool with it," he said.

I AM a big fan of Mary Matalin -- not so much of Carville.  But I do have a hearty respect for the two as a married couple. I've often wondered what it would be like to be a fly on the wall in their home, to see how they make their marriage work. Do they just agree to disagree? Fight like rabid monkeys? Threaten divorce at least once a day? I guess we'll never know, but whatever is their secret, it seems to be working just fine for them.

Other notable changes in the works: Red State's Erick Erickson will be moving from CNN to Fox News, and ABC's Chris Cuomo will be joining fellow network alum Jake Tapper who left ABC for CNN in December.
