Beck Reveals Details Of His Upcoming July 6th Event in Salt Lake City

While Americans across the country typically ring in the July 4th holiday with fireworks, on a deeper level, the day is also a time to pause and reflect on the nation's founding. For the past several summers running, Glenn Beck has launched unique events tailored around a specific theme meant to celebrate American exceptionalism. This season will be no exception as he unveils a tribute to Independence Day dubbed "Man In The Moon," which will take place on July 6 at the USANA Amphitheater in Salt Lake City, Utah.

On his Monday morning radio broadcast, Beck clued listeners in on additional details about the event which, according to his official website, is slated to be a "visual spectacular" that will touch "all of the senses."

Beck said that he believes the spirit and purpose of July 4th has been lost on modern-day trapping such as fireworks and musical renditions. It has "turned into hot dogs, water-skiing, Bruce Springsteen, James Brown...and fireworks," he said.

"It's beer, it's outdoors, sunshine, have some fun and fireworks. That's it. We are not passing anything on to our children except hot dogs and fireworks -- that is not good enough."

Independence Day, along with Christmas, are two holidays Beck said he hopes to reclaim. This summer, he plans to offer those attending his Man In The Moon event an educational experience including seminars hosted by American historians like David Barton, showcases in schooling innovations, a women's conference, and, like at Restoring Love in 2012, charity and service-projects.

"You won’t just be watching the show — you’ll be inside the show."

That stadium can accomodate roughly 20,000 people and tickets will be offered at GlennBeck.com beginning February 19th.

It is "an experience that will lift up your family, bring you closer together, and forever change the way you think about the birth of mans’ liberty," Beck said in a previous statement.

"Know the history of our country and...serve."

In terms of the special effects and entertainment component of the program, Beck said he has hired "some amazing people at the American Dream Labs" -- his new studio designed to create state-of-the-art productions -- and that he is employing the latest technologies to create a visually inspiring event.

"I talked to imagineers, the best in Hollywood and in stage [productions].. I spoke with people at Cirque du Soliel" to create this event, Beck explained.

It will be something unlike you or your family have ever experienced in the past."

Beck informed listeners that there will not be fireworks, but some pyrotechnics will be at play during the production, which he said is the "toughest thing we have ever done as a company."

"We want to change the 4th of July celebration."

Salt Lake City may be a far distance for most to travel, and Beck ceded that he himself would not trek across the country simply "to see a great fireworks display," but that he would, however, "buy a ticket to a show that would help my family see American history from a completely different perspective."

"He promised that his multi-layered event will prompt discussions among family members, encourage people to learn about American history and offer attendees a chance to connect with old friends and make new acquaintances."

Beck added that the program will "give hope that America's best days are ahead, and not behind it."
