Here's my current working hypothesis: The degree of Democrats' desperation for gun control is directly proportional to the absurdity of their proposals.

Here's my empirical evidence:

--Department of Homeland Security's directive to use office supplies to fend off armed intruders.

--Colorado Democrats -- without any hint of sarcasm -- proposal that citizens trade armed defense for whistles and judo chops.
