John Boehner: 'Can't Imagine' Ever Changing My Position Against Gay Marriage

House Speaker John Boehner said he "can't imagine" ever changing his mind on same-sex marriage, even if a child of his came out as gay, as happened this week with Sen. Rob Portman.

“I believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman,” Boehner (R-Ohio) said in an interview broadcast Sunday on ABC News’ “This Week." "It’s what I grew up with. It’s what I believe. It’s what my church teaches me. And I can’t imagine that position would ever change.”

Boehner called Portman, his fellow Ohioan, "a great friend and longtime ally" but said he won't be changing his own views.

"I appreciate that he’s decided to change his views on this.  But I believe that marriage is a union of a man and a woman," Boehner said.
