Multicopter Takes You on an Eerie Flight Through Abandoned 'Battleship Island' (a.k.a. 'Skyfall' Villain's HQ)

"The place is ghostlike, a set for a zombie apocalypse."

Sony took its Action Cam on a RC multicopter to Gunkanjima, or "Battleship Island," and captured stunning fly-over footage of the former seabed coal mining site.

If the site in the video looks familiar, it's because 1) as Sony says it's"one of the world's most well-known 'ghost towns'" and/or 2) as Gizmodo pointed out, it was the site of the "Skyfall" villain Javier Bardem's headquarters in the latest James Bond.

According to Sony's description, the Japanese island was once home to 5,000 people with the last inhabitants leaving in 1974.

"Using a radio-controlled helicopter equipped with a Sony's Action Cam, we took some aerial footage of this breathtaking deserted island to serve as a record for generations to come," Sony wrote.

Although the footage is fascinating, most of the comments about it point out the strange choice of music. Gizmodo calls it "oddly upbeat."

"The music is totally wrong," the commenter going by alonsofava wrote. "The place is ghostlike, a set for a zombie apocalypse. A dramatic tune would have make this a great clip."
