Mike Breach was a bored hotel coffee barista in New York City when he stumbled onto something pretty cool: "painting" finely detailed portraits in coffee.
From Abraham Lincoln to Michael Jackson to Yoda from "Star Wars," Breach began posting his instantly recognizable portraits on his Tumblr page, appropriately titled "Baristart." A new video from Storyboard details how Breach honed his coffee craft.
"I kind of want to be like Willy Wonka with coffee," Breach said. Making fun portraits and designs helps to "take the pretentiousness out of"coffee.
He said he comes up with a new technique every few weeks.
"It doesn't last forever and that's what makes it special," he said.
