Rare Lamborghini Worth Up to $1.7 Million Goes Up in Flames

"The saddest thing you'll see all day"

Auto blogs have been lamenting a collector's 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV for the last couple days as a video of it engulfed in flames was posted on YouTube over the weekend.

Jalopnik called it "the saddest thing you'll see all day," Yahoo! Autos dubbed it "tragic" and Auto Blog said "nothing's worse," noting the vehicle's hefty estimated worth. According to the New York Daily News, there were only 764 models produced with a prototype selling a few years ago for $1.7 million. But Sports Car Market estimates the car's worth at $675,000 to $850,000.

The video places the unfortunate event in central London. The slightly more than 5-minute clip starts with the sports car already engulfed, not describing what started the fire. The fire department shows up several minutes later to put out the flames.

Jalopnik reported that earlier models of the Miura, which began production in 1966, had problems with fires.
