Keith Olbermann is Oprah

For a decade Keith Olbermann made his name as a left wing cable hothead. Now unemployed between jobs, he's traded in his fiercely partisan commentary for a more positive, less bitchy message...

It's a pivot not unlike the one Oprah Winfrey made in the late 1990s. The original concept of her talk show was to focus on the tawdry, sorry-excuse-for-a-man TV now limited to Maury, Jerry Springer and Dr. Phil. She later evolved, changing her message to "live your best life" and started giving away free things, like trips to Australia.

As for Olbermann, he's moved on to sports. After having been fired at both MSNBC and Current TV, where he anchored his anti-GOP Countdown program, it was reported that he was looking for a job at ESPN. He now tweets photos of himself smiling at baseball fields. He also blogs about baseball. "It’s a good team with a good manager. I’m biased towards him – he’s one of my favorite friends in baseball," reads a typical post.

His Twitter, which used to be a running feed of snark aimed at Republicans and his critics, is now a place where he shares photos of trees and weather patterns. "Always disturbing when you can exactly see where the storm is, and where it isn't," he tweeted April 10 with a photo of ominous clouds over a city skyline.

Most recently, Olbermann published a piece in the Huffington Post about the history behind some photos of Jackie Robinson.

"Thinking of unfollowing @KeithOlbermann," wrote one of Olbermann's (former?) followers on Twitter Sunday night. "Expected insightful political commentary. Got sports junk and sunset photos. Thoughts?"

Olbermann simply responded, "bye."
