Shaolin Warriors' Kung Fu Skills Are Even Better in Slow Motion

"Any normal human being would kill themselves."

The stunts of Shaolin warriors are jaw-dropping. They fling, flip and twist their ninja-like bodies into the air in ways that don't quite seem humanly possible. The break extremely hard objects on their head with such speed that, as the show hosts say, "any normal human being would kill themselves."

But it is of course possible, which is why BBC's Earth Unplugged focused its Slow Mo special on the human body and what sets us apart from other primates.

"With limited time, and a new camera to play with, can they capture the lightning fast moves of the world's most successful animal?" the video description asks, referring to the warriors and Earth Unplugged hosts' high-speed camera.

Check it out (Note: be sure to tune in to 5:13 to see the Shaolin warrior smash the object on his head):

Shaolin Kung Fu is a type of martial arts that originated at the Shaolin Monastery in China.

Columbia Arts Management, which hosts a Shaolin Warrior show, describes its Kung Fu masters as having trained from a young age for the physical and mental demands of the practice.
