Megyn Kelly re-signs with Fox News

Megyn Kelly, one of the fastest rising stars in cable news and the anchor of Fox News's America Live, has signed a new contract with the network.

From the New York Times:

A spokeswoman for Fox News did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday. The news of her contract renewal, confirmed by several people with knowledge of the situation, will come as good news to her fans, of which there are many; “America Live” was watched by an average of 1.1 million viewers in the first quarter of the year, slightly more than the shows before and after hers.

Kelly captured the spotlight during the 2012 presidential election, moderating some of the GOP primary debates and, most memorably, her run-in with Republican Strategist Karl Rove on election night.

After the Rove incident, media critic Howard Kurtz wrote: "She is clearly too big a talent to remain marooned at 1 p.m. and would like a more prominent time slot. But with Fox having stuck for years with a winning prime-time lineup of Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Greta Van Susteren, it is not clear where Kelly would land."

Terms of Kelly's contract are unknown, according to the Times, but prior to signing, she reportedly took meetings with CNN and ABC News.
