NY Times defends Fox News' James Rosen

An editorial in Wednesday's New York Times says the Obama administration is "threatening fundamental freedoms of the press" with its investigation of Fox News reporter James Rosen.

It was reported Monday that Rosen had his whereabouts tracked and his phone records and emails viewed by the Department of Justice as part of a government leak investigation. Though Fox News is often on its own in terms of friends in the mainstream press, most reporters have rallied behind Rosen in the spirit of the First Amendment.

The Times' editorial goes on to say the Obama administration, also under fire for its DOJ secretly seizing phone records of Associates Press staffers, is showing "a heavy tilt toward secrecy and insufficient concern about a free press."
