Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) has twice said Congress could impeach President Obama in light of a slew of scandals his administration is facing. "I'm not saying impeachment is the end game, but it's a possibility, especially if they keep doing little to help us learn more," he told National Review in an interview published Monday.
Republican Strategist Karl Rove is saying: Stop it.
"These controversies are still in their early stages—and the GOP must never mutter the word 'impeachment,'" Rove wrote in a new Wall Street Journal op-ed. "The president's credibility is weakening." He went on to say congressional Republicans should focus solely on "getting the facts out" about the scandals.
Both Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus have also said talk of impeachment is premature.
