Frightening Dashcam Video and Audio Captures Police Cruiser Tumbling Over and Over After Being Hit by Sleeping Driver

"You alright?"

A driver who fell asleep at the wheel drifted into a highway lane and slammed right into a police cruiser, causing the patrol car to roll over several times and injuring the officer inside.

The cruiser's dashcam captured the whole ordeal on film, and the Jupiter Police Department posted the video as a reminder of the dangers of driving while tired, WKMG reported.

Officer Jason Starks, 34, was driving on I-95 after leaving the Palm Beach County jail around 4:30 a.m. Sunday when the other fast-moving vehicle, driven by 30-year-old Steven Klix, pulled crossed directly in front of the cruiser and hit the concrete guard. Starks' vehicle began to spin and roll over on impact.

The cringe-worthy dashcam video shows the officer's perspective of the accident and includes the violent sounds of the accident as well as someone yelling "you alright?" once the cars come to a stop.

Watch the footage:

WPTV reported Officer Starks's vehicle crashed into a tree before it stopped in the grass on the shoulder of the road.

Starks, who was wearing his seat belt, was taken to a local hospital with injuries and later released in the evening. Klix, also wearing a seat belt, was not injured.

Klix was charged with failure to maintain a single lane, according to the Florida Highway Police.
