Have Dems Controlled the 'Gang of Eight' Immigration Push From the Start?

The Senate is blistering forward with amendments and debate this week on immigration reform, keeping pace for a vote before the July 4 recess. The bill at hand has been catapulted forward by the bipartisan 'Gang of Eight,' including Sens. John McCain and Marco Rubio.

Over the weekend Ryan Lizza released an extensive piece in the New Yorker on immigration reform and the Gang of Eight negotiations that included sharp quotes from high-level staffers and Senators, which some conservatives have criticized for portraying Republicans in the 'Gang of Eight' as feuding with one another and ultimately moderated by Sen. Charles Schumer, who in turn has been reporting back to the White House.

The Lizza report also included a quote from a Rubio aide about American workers not being "star performers," which the Senator has since responded to as taken out of context and really a description from a member of his staff  regarding an argument used from big labor against a guest worker program.

On 'Real News' Monday the panel discussed the politics of the immigration reform push, and where the debate has put Rubio in relation to his own party and the White House.
