Baltimore Oriole's third baseman Manny Machado is one of baseball's young stars. And on Sunday he showed why with an amazing defensive play that has become the talk of the baseball -- and even the sports -- world.
With the Orioles down by one run in the 6th inning while playing at the Yankees, Luis Cruiz hit a hot shot to Machado. After appearing to initially bobble the ball, which then caused it to ricochet into foul territory, Machado tracked it down and made an amazing on-target throw to catch the runner by a step.
That description doesn't do it justice like the video does:
The announcer likely had it right that we're "going to see that one for a few years." He's also likely correct that it could be the Oriole's "defensive play of the year."
