In a move just begging for a head shake from anyone who hears about it, county authorities in Michigan said the 28-year-old man charged with fraud showed up at the court’s central records unit, as he was told to do, to submit to court-ordered fingerprints.

And to pay for that $16 service? He allegedly used a stolen credit card. Cue head shake.

“Is it any wonder the jail was overcrowded the last seven days?” the county sheriff said, reports MLive.com. This, likely an unsubtle generalization regarding similar unwise actions exhibited by other incarcerated folks.

The town’s mayor says this isn’t the first time something like that has happened.

“We have had people come in here and write bad checks, but it doesn’t happen very often,” he said.

It’s one thing to return to the scene of the crime, but then to allegedly commit a similar crime while answering for the first one? Oof. Just, oof.
