Cindy Adams supposedly overheard some mafia-like plot to 'derail' Weiner

Here's a weird one.

New York Post gossip columnist Cindy Adams writes that she overheard some "Washington pols" plot to "derail" New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner's campaign, should he win the Democratic nomination in September.

From Adams' Tuesday column:

WASHINGTON pols whisper — loudly enough so I can hear — that if weenie Weiner makes the runoff, a stealthy “national movement” will work to derail him. Under cover of darkness names like “White House” . . . “Albany” . . . “Pelosi” get mumbled. It’s phrases like “New York City’s too important, its mayoralty too important, to be run by someone considered unstable.”

Mumbles include “no fingerprints . . . covert not overt . . . but political operators will be reached, indirectly donors will hear . . .”

No fingerprints, huh.
