RNC chairman threatens to boycott CNN, NBC in 2016 debates

Following news that both CNN and NBC are producing specials about Hillary Clinton ahead of the 2016 presidential election, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus issued a threat to the networks in an email to supporters.

"If both networks continue to move forward with these projects," the email says, "I am prepared to seek a binding vote stating that the RNC will neither partner with these networks in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates they sponsor."

The email calls CNN and NBC's plans "disturbing and disappointing" and a "thinly-veiled attempt at putting a thumb on the scales for the next presidential election."

CNN's production is actually a documentary. NBC's is to be a four-hour mini series produced by the company's entertainment division.

Priebus also wrote formal letters to CNN and NBC calling on them to halt the productions.
