NY Post stands by NBC, CNN's Hillary specials

Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton addresses the 51st Delta Sigma Theta National Convention in Washington, Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Clinton is offering her prayers for the family of Trayvon Martin and, in her words, "every family who loves someone who is lost to violence. " Clinton says this week has brought "deep, painful heartache" to many Americans. She said no mother or father should ever have to fear for a child walking down a street in the United States. Support for Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus' call for NBC and CNN to nix their planned specials based on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has come from some unexpected corners.

One of those corners is not the New York Post, which is fairly conservative in its opinion pages.

The Post wrote in one of its Wednesday editorials:

We don’t accept the argument that there should be restrictions on the right to broadcast or advertise any film, even a fawning one, during a campaign. That’s the Obama argument. Now it’s being used against Hillary.

"The Obama argument" is a reference to President Obama's criticism of a 2010 Supreme Court ruling that declared it unconstitutional for the Federal Election Commission to restrict independent political expenditures by corporations and other politically active groups.
