State police in Kane, which is about two and a half hours northeast of Pittsburgh, say the crash happened about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. They say an SUV driven by 36-year-old Kathy Douglas crossed into oncoming traffic and hit an approaching sedan.
A boy and a girl in Douglas' vehicle died, ages 6 and 12. A 10-year-old boy in her vehicle was seriously injured, and he along with Douglas were flown from the scene to trauma centers for care of their serious injuries, according to WIVB-TV.
The four occupants of the sedan died in the crash. They are the driver, 62-year-old Gary Beimel, and his passengers, 55-year-old Elaine Beimel, 54-year-old David Cuneo, and 81-year-old Florence Donachy. All are residents of St. Marys, Pa., about 40 minutes south of Kane.
The road upon which collision occurred was closed for about six and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleaned up, WIVB reports.
The investigating officer, Trooper Roger McCloskey, says he believes Douglas was at fault and will face charges.
