While Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) says he wanted to "vomit" after reading Russia President Vladimir Putin's new op-ed in the New York Times, Pat Buchanan was all about it.
"Candidly, it was an outstanding piece," Buchanan said on Fox News Wednesday night. Later he said the U.S. looks "petty" by "stiffing the president of Russia, not having meetings with" Putin. "I think, frankly, in the last week Vladimir Putin looks like a statesman."
Putin's op-ed, published online Wednesday, made the case for the U.S. to hold off on striking Syria for its government allegedly using chemical weapons on its own people. He also took recent remarks by President Obama to task. "It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation," Putin wrote, referencing Obama's Tuesday address to the U.S. on Syria.
