Former President George H.W. Bush served as an official witness at a same-sex marriage in Maine this past weekend.
Bush spokesman Jim McGrath confirmed the former president was in attendance at the wedding of Bonnie Clement and Helen Thorgalsen.
“They were private citizens attending a private ceremony for two friends," McGrath told The Washington Post.
A picture was late posted to Facebook showing Bush sign the marriage license.

According to The Washington Post, members of the Bush circle have "expressed varying levels of support for gay marriage.
