Here's a weird one.
CNN contributor and former Democratic National Committee Vice Chairwoman Donna Brazile retweeted a comment from political foe Ted Nugent on Friday.
"Foodstamps welfare amnestyObamacare r illegal bribes for ignorant votes," read the [sic!] tweet from Nugent. It received an additional 239 retweets.
Some of Brazile's followers were surprised at the retweet, which are often seen as endorsements of ideas or comments.
"I'm curious to know why you retweeted this?" one follower said to Brazile. "Why retweet this idiot!" said another.
So, what happened? Is Brazile now a Nugent-friendly Tea Partier?
No. Brazile clarified the retweet in a followup tweet.
"Sorry folks," she said. "I know many of you were outraged that I RT'd Ted Nugent's comments. But wanted to share what we are up against."
Update: Brazile got back to us shortly after this post published. She was in Florida for an event.
"I don't know him and never met him," she said of Nugent. "My followers were upset that I retweeted him. Case closed."
Brazile said she's on her way back to D.C. from Florida. "Time to end the shutdown."
