What Planet Are You Living on Here?': NBC's Chuck Todd Shreds Ted Cruz
Tea Party Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, speaks at a rally at the World War II Memorial in Washington Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, as Senate leaders have taken the helm in the search for a deal to end the partial government shutdown and avert a federal default. The rally was organized to protest the closure of the Memorial, subsequent to the shutdown, and lack of access to it by World War II veterans who traveled there on Honor Flight visits. Credit: AP

What Planet Are You Living on Here?': NBC's Chuck Todd Shreds Ted Cruz

The GOP "echo chamber."

NBC News political director Chuck Todd is unimpressed with freshman Sen. Ted Cruz, and said as much Monday on MSNBC's “Morning Joe.”

Todd’s comments were aimed mostly at the Texas Republican's recent questioning of an NBC News poll that shows public approval for the GOP has plummeted.

The poll shows that Republicans have some of the worst ratings in the survey’s history and says most respondents blame the GOP for the partial government shutdown.

Todd said a GOP “echo chamber” has confused Cruz’s thinking.

"The problem is two-thirds of the country is thinking something else," he said. "And that's what you see in our poll. It wasn't just Democrats, it was independents and it was the one half of the Republican Party that doesn't associate itself with the Tea Party wing of the party."

Watch his comments below at the 3:56 mark:

Todd later questioned Cruz's decision to appear alongside former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at Sunday’s “Million Vet March” in Washington, D.C.

“What planet are you living on here?" Todd asked.
