Face of Evil: How This Mother Abused Her Mentally Handicapped Son Is Unfathomable

A New Hampshire woman was sentenced to up to 30 years in prison last week after pleading guilty to torturing her mentally challenged son.

Christine Gelineau, 53, who admitted to burning her sons penis, pled guilty Thursday to first-degree assault and witness tampering, according to WFSB.

The woman was accused of forcing her son to eat human feces, kneeing him in the face, burning off his nipples, pressing a lit cigarette onto his head, beating and drugging him and allowing her friend to twist his ankle until it broke, according to the Concord Monitor.

The teenager was then reportedly forced to lie and say his wounds were self inflicted.

The paper also reported that the victim's cousin, Amy Nason, 29, who is scheduled for sentencing in two weeks, also allegedly forced him to ingest urine, worms and dish soap.

The mentally challenged teenager, who remains unidentified, confronted Gelineau in court last week, reading from a prepared statement as she sobbed near by.

“Dear ex-Mother,” he said, according to the Concord Monitor. “What you did to me is unforgivable. You beat me, starved me, almost chopped my penis off, threw my clothes away, wouldn’t let me bathe. You almost killed me by having me take three [antidepressants] and two muscle-relaxers."

“Now that I know you’re a complete criminal and only wanted me dead so you could go back to your old life,” he continued, “You won’t be able to attend my graduation or see me go on to college, so I wish you goodbye. I hope you realize you have lost everything you had.”

The assistant county prosecutor, George Waldron, said Gelineau's son suffered permanent nerve damage to his penis when she burned it with a lighter back in April, according to the Concord Monitor.

“What she did alone was one of the most horrible things I’ve seen,” Waldron reportedly said.

Daniel "Tyler" Cantrell, 20, who is also accused of helping Gelineau torture her son, reportedly said Gelineau threatened to burn the teenager's penis off unless he ate human feces. When her child complied, she burned it off anyway, said Cantrell, according to an affidavit in the case.

Gelineau also allegedly kneed her son in the face and stabbed him with a pen, but those charges were dropped as part of a plea bargain, according to the Concord Monitor.

The victim is now living with an aunt and uncle in Massachusetts.

“He’s doing very well,” County Attorney Scott Murray said. “But obviously he has a lot to deal with, and it’s going to be a long recovery period.”
