The Shocking Photo That Made Staff in Our Newsroom Gasp

"Want to know what sucks? THIS!!"

Over the weekend, a New Jersey woman saw a deer shot straight through the snout with a hunter's arrow. Although the image is so shocking it made staff in our newsroom gasp, the woman behind it -- Sarah Darrah -- said the deer seems to be fairing surprisingly well -- considering.

Darrah saw the deer in her Boonton backyard, which is near a reservoir and frequently draws wildlife, and posted a photo of it on Facebook.

"Want to know what sucks? THIS!! Tried to capture him to no avail," Darrah wrote on the social media site about the photo. "He can eat, run and there's no blood, less chance of infection. I just feel so bad for him."

In a comment, she explained that the deer was keeping with the rest of the herd and didn't seem too distressed.

Darrah said she called the state's fish and game department for help. According to the New Jersey Star-Ledger, officials with the department set out to look for the deer in the area Monday, but to no avail.

New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife Spokesman Bob Considine told the Star-Ledger if the deer was found it would be tranquilized with the hope that the arrow could then be removed.

"I know a lot of hunters and I know that was nothing done intentionally," Darrah told the local newspaper.
