Should You Be Worried About Syrian Jihadists Attacking America Next?

"A lot of people say, 'How could we have seen this coming?' Well, they told us."

TheBlaze's national security correspondent Buck Sexton weighed in Monday on a video of what appears to be British men fighting alongside Syrian rebels, warning the United States that "your time will come and we will bleed you to death."

"In the past when we have ignored the proclamations of avowed jihadists, they've made good at them at some point in the future," Sexton warned on the Glenn Beck Program. "A lot of people say, 'How could we have seen this coming?' Well, they told us."

He added that since the individuals in this case appear to be British, they are likely able to travel freely around the European Union and the United States.

"You can never really tell which unit, which cell will go operational first," he said. "There are other elements of Al Qaeda around the world that could beat them to the punch, but if you're looking at a place where you have a real global clarion call to jihad - Syria's number one right now. That's the big show, that's the big game for guys who want to get their jihad on."

Sexton said that part of the "radicalization cycle" he studied while at the NYPD Intelligence Division and the CIA indicates that once individuals have actually engaged in violence, and their ideology has been solidified by those around them, they are far more dangerous.

"When they either return home, or if they decide to stay, the next step is not focusing on Assad. It's the big dogs - it's the U.S., and it's Israel," Sexton said.

And don't count on the authorities intercepting them on the way back, Sexton added. Unless said jihadists are particularly "not bright," they're going to say they've been visiting family or something similar, not that they've been fighting Assad and the "Alawite scum."

"So unless the FBI, or unless the authorities here in Homeland Security can prove these jihadists actually did something over there, you have trained, hardened jihadists filtering back into the United States and into Europe as well," Sexton said.

At the end of the interview, Beck asked Sexton to weigh in on the most recent developments in Iran. In Sexton's estimation, "this ends with...Iran having a nuclear weapon, and the world having to deal with that."

If Israel was going to wipe out Iran's nuclear capabilities, he said, it probably "would've happened years ago."

"The Iranians know exactly what they're doing right now," Sexton said simply. "They are going to run out the clock, everything else is just a smoke screen."

He expressed little confidence in the Obama administration's handling of the issue.

"I think they're naive. I think they have a lot of hubris. I think they actually believe in the power of the diplomacy of Obama's speeches ... despite all the evidence to the contrary of the last five years," he said. "They are that delusional, and therefore that scary."
