Even if you are settled into your Thanksgiving cooking traditions, the American Chemical Society has pulled together five tips/facts that could make your holiday dinner that much better.

Tips include everything from how brining can help make your turkey extra moist and how various Thanksgiving flavor staples -- like onions, garlic and cinnamon -- might have health benefits. There's even a tip to combat one of the effects of over eating.

The White House's "We the Geeks" Google Hangout series took on the topic of the science of cooking Wednesday as well. Hosted by White House Executive Pastry Chef Bill Yosses and other experts, including the Food Network's Anne Burrell and former astronaut Ron Garan, the foodies discussed the inner workings of what is likely to be on Thanksgiving tables Thursday.
