Tiger Mauls Tamer in Graphic Attack in Front of Terrified Audience – Including the Man's Mother
December 10, 2013
A trained tiger jumped on a tamer during a live show in front of an audience at Spain's Gottani Circus on Friday.
Video of the terrifying attack shows the tiger jumping onto the 35-year-old tamer Denny Gottani and refusing to let go for what must have felt like an eternity. Eventually, another circus worker was able to intervene. Gottani was reportedly taken to a hospital and treated for wounds on his head, back and legs. Luckily, no damage was done to any of his vital organs.
"While the tiger attack shocked circus spectators, it's not uncommon for big cats to act aggressively toward tamers and trainers. Earlier this year, a trainer was killed by a tiger during a circus performance in Mexico," the Huffington Post notes.
Gottani's mother was also reportedly in the audience and scared for her son's life. She had to be treated for an anxiety attack by medical personnel.
