A woman in England snapped a selfie with her son recently, but when she went to look at it she noticed something potentially terrifying in the resulting photo: a mystery object that looked like an adult human hand -- and it was touching her shoulder.
The problem? Peaches Geldof, a 24-year-old journalist and socialite, and her son, Astala, were the only two people in the room at the time the photo was taken and the mystery "hand" didn't belong to either of them.
After Geldof realized that something didn't look quite right, she took to her Instagram account to share the photo and a description of what unfolded, WDAF-TV reported.

"Close up shot of the mystery ghost hand in pic I took of Astala and me in the bath!," she wrote. "And no that isn’t my hand, one of mine was round his waist to hold him during the photo, the other holding the camera to take the shot."
Since the hand appears to be around her shoulder, Geldolf said that it would have been difficult for her to fabricate the image herself.
"How terrifying!" she added, sharing a close-up of the shot.
The Daily Mail reported that Geldof believes the spirit is a woman who died 100 years ago in the home.
"The house was built in the 1920s by a rich man and his pregnant wife, however, his wife had a stillborn baby and was so grief-stricken she went mad. She apparently drowned herself in the bath," she told the outlet. "The presence I feel isn't malignant or angry, rather maternal and friendly -- the house has a lovely atmosphere."
It's quite possible, of course, that the picture has been edited or that the mystery "hand" is something else entirely.
