Man Claims iPad Mini He Tried to Buy From Walmart Turned Out to Be Something Very Different

"I don't know what else to do.”

A Florida man says the iPad Mini he bought from Walmart was really a box with two books inside instead of a tablet -- and that Walmart won't refund him.

“I immediately got my receipt,” the man said of his Dec. 14 purchase in a video posted to YouTube Sunday, “drove immediately back to the store, went to the customer service desk, asked for a manager, explained the whole situation.”

He claimed management at the Lakeland, Fla., Walmart was “extremely disrespectful” and uncooperative.

Three hundred dollars “is a lot of money to me,” the man wrote in the YouTube video description. “I am a full-time college student and can not [sic] afford to simply buy another tablet. I don't know what else to do.”

“Apple customer service said they can not [sic] do anything to help,” he wrote. “Walmart corporate customer service said they can not [sic] do anything, took my info and said a District Manager MAY contact me in 2-5 business days.”

The video, which was featured on Reddit, concludes with the man saying he still hasn’t caught a break from Apple or Walmart management.

Now, a few things should be noted.

First, the video's YouTube description includes a plug for his electronic cigarette webpage, so the video could be a hoax to try to drive traffic to his site.

Second, online communities have in recent months been overrun with what have turned out to be false claims and hoaxes. So it’s probably best to approach the man’s iPad claim with extreme skepticism.

Management at the Lakeland, Fla., Walmart did not immediately respond to TheBlaze's request for comment.
