"It looked more ‘Duck Dynasty’ to me."
A man wearing a dirty-gray, long fake beard entered a suburban Washington, D.C. bank on Saturday morning, fired at least one shot into the ceiling, robbed cash from tellers, then fled in a maroon sedan, police told The Washington Post.
One lingering question: Was he impersonating Santa...or a 'Duck Dynasty' cast member?
“Fortunately, no one was hurt,” said Laurel Police Department spokesman Pete Piringer.
PNC Bank employees described the robber’s disguise as a Santa beard, Piringer said, “but it looked more ‘Duck Dynasty’ to me,” he added, referring to the gray beards worn by cast members of the popular television series that's attracted controversy this week.
On Wednesday, A&E placed cast member Phil Robertson on indefinite hiatus following a number of comments where he gave brutally honest opinions about homosexuality. As TheBlaze reported Friday, retail giant Walmart is selling out of “Duck Dynasty” gear as fans flock to show their support of Robertson.
The suspect was first described by Laurel, Md., police on Twitter as an "African American Male, 5'10", med build," then a later tweet description omitted "African American." Police said he was out of the bank within three minutes.
The bank remains closed, and Laurel and Prince George’s County police continue to patrol nearby neighborhoods looking for the getaway car or anyone who may have seen it, the Post reported.
