Reality TV Star Reveals How an Abortion Is Part of Her 'Biggest Regret' in Life

"I didn't think it was OK to have a child and be a single parent."

Reality TV star and professional matchmaker Patti Stanger has enjoyed fame and a successful career, but that doesn't mean she's devoid of regrets. She recently shared her biggest disappointment during a Twitter Q&A with OK! Magazine.

"My biggest regret is I didn't have children and I had an abortion in my 20s," Stanger, the star of Bravo's "Millionaire Matchmaker," said in response to a question. "I was pregnant and I didn't have enough money and I didn't think it was OK to have a child and be a single parent. Now, look, everyone's doing that."

She said she didn't find the right person at the time, reiterating that her biggest personal blunder was "not having kids."

"I didn't find the right guy at the right time to have one with, I guess. But I don't think I would adopt and be single," she said. "I think I would have eventually found a guy, settled down, got the picket fence and I just didn't meet the person at the right time. I wasn't that lucky, like a lot of other people."

Stanger first shared her abortion experience in an interview with Fox411 back in 2012. While she told the outlet she's staunchly pro-choice, she also expressed unease over the abortion she had at the age of 26.

"I remember this sense of paranoia and I was always wondering whether this would be the last time, would this be my last shot at having a child," Stanger told Fox411. "I am all for pro-choice, but it really did make me stop and think."

The television star took to Twitter in recent days to defend herself, saying that despite her experience, "pro-choice is a woman's right." You can watch her discuss her biggest regret here.
