BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — "12 Years a Slave" has won the Golden Globe for best picture, drama.
The historical biopic of Solomon Northup, a free man abducted and sold into slavery, has been considered a front-runner in the race for the Best Picture Academy Award, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Oscars air March 2.
The other nominees "12 Years a Slave" bested Sunday night were "Captain Phillips," ''Gravity," ''Philomena," and "Rush."
