Iranian News Service Out With One of the Most Ridiculous Reports (and It Involves Aliens)

Iran’s Fars News Agency is sometimes referred to disparagingly by Middle East watchers as “Iran’s Farce News Agency.” This report may shed some light on why.

In a story posted on its website Sunday, the semi-official news agency wrote that documents leaked by former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden provide “incontrovertible proof” that an “alien/extraterrestrial intelligence agenda” is driving U.S. policy. The accompanying artwork on the site juxtaposed President Barack Obama, Adolf Hitler and a rendering of a space alien.

Fars  wrote, “A stunning [Russian] Federal Security Services (FSB) report on the nearly two million highly classified top-secret documents obtained from the United States Department of Defense (DOD) run National Security Agency-Central Security Service (NSA/CSS) by the American ex-patriot Edward Snowden states that this information is providing ‘incontrovertible proof’ that an ‘alien/extraterrestrial intelligence agenda’ is driving US domestic and international policy, and has been doing so since at least 1945, Whatdoesitmean.com reported.”

According to the story which is apparently based on a conspiracy theory website, Snowden warned that there “were actually two governments in the US, the one that was elected, and the other, secret regime, governing in the dark.”

Fars contended that “explosive revelations” in the FSB report prove a link between aliens who work in the U.S. today and those who elevated the Nazis to power before World War II.

Snowden’s documents confirm that a group of extraterrestrials who work with the US Air Force in Nevada known as the “Tall Whites” are “the same extraterrestrial alien race behind the stunning rise of Nazi Germany during the 1930’s,” Fars wrote.

Fars also described “a cataclysmic power struggle [that] is currently underway against this ‘secret regime’ now headed by Obama by ‘forces unknown.’”

Washington Post foreign affairs blogger Max Fisher wrote, “Yes, this story is highly entertaining, as are many of the bizarre conspiracy theories proposed by official or semi-official news agencies in authoritarian states. But there's also a more serious undercurrent here.”

“A worldview that sees the U.S. as an evil hegemonic force so irrationally driven toward global domination that it must be run by space aliens is not a worldview that is predisposed toward negotiation or accommodation. It's one that justified, or perhaps even necessitates, total resistance and a refusal to compromise,” Fisher wrote. “To be clear, this does not appear to be the present view of the Iranian president.”
