Mug Shot of Man Allegedly High on Meth Who Police Say Dragged His Son Into the Woods for an 'Exorcism' Is About as Scary As You'd Think

"I have to stop the demons. I have to do it."

A Florida man allegedly high on methamphetamine reportedly became convinced that his son was possessed by a demon and required an exorcism.

So Bryan Adams, 31, allegedly dragged his 11-year-old boy out of his bedroom at 3 a.m. on Jan. 16, and into the woods, according to The Daily Mail.

"You are the demon, you are the demon," he reportedly told the child.

But police found the two and intervened to save the boy, leading to a violent clash between Adams and the officers. The assailant sustained injuries, though his son escaped the ordeal unscathed.

"I have to stop the demons. I have to do it," Adams reportedly told police.

Deputy Leland Schoonmaker who was on the scene described the chaos that unfolded when police tried to detain the man.

"I then observed Bryan getting up off the ground and lunging at Deputy Hazy," the officer said in his report of the ordeal. "Bryan then turned around and began punching me in the chest with both hands. One wrist did have a handcuff on it and he was swinging it around as he was punching me."

And those aren't the only stunning details. Independent Newsmedia reported that Deputy Mark Margerum, also on the scene, claimed in his report that Adams also attacked a K-9 dog named Nero who was accompanying police.

"I could see the bottom half of Bryan and K-9 Nero -- Bryan was appeared to be lying on his back," Margerum said. "Bryan was punching K-9 Nero in the left side of K-9 Nero’s head while K-9 Nero was holding Bryan’s right leg with his mouth."

Even a Taser didn't stop Adams, as he was reportedly stunned four times with little to no effect. During that time, he continued hitting Nero in the head.

Adams was subsequently charged with felonies, including child abuse without great bodily harm, three counts of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, use of a deadly weapon/battery on a police K-9, five counts of resisting a law enforcement officer with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer and escape, according to Okeechobee News.

He is being held on $170,000 bond and was on felony probation already after being found guilty of criminal mischief last year.

Police say he is estranged from his wife due to an addiction to crystal methamphetamine and that he had shown up at her workplace earlier in the day saying he wanted to take their children. She also reportedly said that he mentioned seeing demons, WPBF-TV reported.
