Things Get Real Tense After GOP Rep. Tells Rachel Maddow She’s Just a ‘Cheerleader’ for Obama Admin.

"Did you just call me a cheerleader?"

Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) clearly got under MSNBC host Rachel Maddow’s skin on Tuesday night when he accused her of being a “cheerleader” for the Obama administration instead of a journalist.

While discussing the security failures leading up to the deadly attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Huelskamp argued then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton failed to request security enhancements. The administration “let our troops down,” he added.

“We need more answers there, we need answers about a lot of things,” the congressman told Maddow. “This administration promised to be the most transparent in history, Rachel, and I think if you would stop being a cheerleader and be a journalist, you'd recognize we're not getting those answers.”

“Did you just call me a cheerleader?” a visibly irritated Maddow shot back.

“I don't know, maybe you had that history. I'm saying—,” he began before being interrupted.

“No, wait, wait. Hold on. Hold on,” Maddow barked.

“You're a cheerleader for the administration, you're not being a journalist. When you're not willing to look at the facts. If it was Bush, you would be jumping and screaming,” Huelskamp said.

“You’re amazing,” the TV host remarked, letting out a sarcastic laugh.

The pair went on to discuss whether President Barack Obama has acted in an “unlawful” manner regarding his use of executive orders.
