HBO "Real Time" host Bill Maher plans on using his show this season, which just this month, to affect the outcome of one competitive House race.

"This year, we are going to be entering into the exciting world of outright meddling with the political process," Maher told the New York Times.

How it works: Maher will ask viewers to nominate their current, individual representative and make the case that he or she is the worst in the House. Maher and his staff will then choose the winner, highlighting supposedly bad things the representative has done on the show through November. Maher also plans to visit the selected district to gin up support for ousting the representative.

The experiment, dubbed "Flip the District," starts Friday night.

A show producer told the Times that the selected member will likely be a Republican.
