LA Times passed on one of few opportunities to be relevant again with Dylan Farrow column
February 06, 2014
Dylan Farrow's column graphically detailing her alleged sexual abuse at the hands of Hollywood legend and adoptive father Woody Allen might have ended up in the Los Angeles Times. But the paper said: no thanks.
“We got it, we considered it, we ultimately decided not to use it,” LA Times op-ed editor Sue Horton told The Wrap. (Not as though the LA Times needs any buzz or anything.)
So, to the New York Times Farrow went where Nicholas Kristof lent his blog to publish the piece.
Then, of course, the column blazed a trail on the internet and nearly everyone has heard about it since.
NY Times Public Editor Margaret Sullivan wrote a blog post Wednesday that said a response column from Allen may be printed in the Times "within the next few days."
