A Woman Actually Spent a Night In Jail For Failing to Return a Movie She Rented 9 Years Ago

"...it's ridiculous that I had this happen to me."

A South Carolina woman was arrested this week and spent a night in jail for failing to return a movie she rented in 2005.

Kayla Michelle Finley, 27, rented "Monster-In-Law" nine years ago and failed to return it to the now out-of-business Dalton Videos in Pickens County, according to WHNS-TV.

Now, she reportedly faces a misdemeanor for failure to return the video cassette. Finley was arrested Thursday after a warrant was found for her arrest when she went to the sheriff's office to report another crime, WYFF-TV reported.

According to the warrant, the 27-year-old was sent letters to return the video, but never responded.

She adamantly denies those charges and directed a scathing message toward the sheriff's department.

"It's obvious that Pickens County has nothing better to do. I fully intend on fighting this, it's ridiculous that I had this happen to me," she told WHNS-TV.
