Does Rupert Murdoch believe in climate change or not?

News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch sent out a companywide memo in 2011 touting that all of the company was "carbon neutral," according to the New York Times.

Compare that to a tweet Murdoch sent out Tuesday. "Wild winter in U.S., U.K., etc.," it said. "No respectable evidence any of this (is) man made climate change in spite of blindly ignorant politicians."

Murdoch said in his 2011 memo that the decision to go carbon neutral was made for the purposes of "energy efficiency," "environmental sustainability" and "for the benefit of our communities."

He also gave a speech in 2007 wherein he said, "climate change poses clear, catastrophic threats. We may not agree on the extent, but we certainly can't afford the risk of inaction."

Peculiar.

Though, of course, it's possible to become environmentally conscious simply out of caution rather than because of a solid belief that it's necessary.

Maybe he's evolving on the issue.
