A Boy Without a Coat, Alone on a Bus Bench in Freezing Cold Weather — What Would You Do?

A young boy without a coat sits on a bench at a bus stop, all alone in the city on a brutally cold day. What would you do if you saw him?

"Johannes" is the 11-year-old boy in the video attached below. He was part of a hidden camera video project from an Oslo, Norway-based charity drawing attention to the plight of children in Syria. The campaign, titled, "Children in Syria are cold, give them a warm jacket," has already generated more than 9 million views in under three days.

The charity's website reports that they have raised more that $350,000 in donations in less than four days.

Let's get back to the video.

"Johannes" is placed on the bus bench in Oslo and he is shivering. He has no coat, no hat, no gloves. In the video, one by one, we see people approach the bus stop and ask him if he is cold. He always responded "yes."  The clip appears to show people asking the question and not really taking action or responding in any sort of positive manner. One scene even shows a woman texting, seemingly oblivious to the plight of the young boy.

However, after about a minute of seeing nothing positive happen, we are treated to a non-stop sequence showing strangers opening their hearts to the young man without a coat. It starts with a woman removing her rather large scarf and wrapping it around "Johannes."

In another scene we see a man who has only a short-sleeved shirt under his coat, remove the coat and put it on the freezing boy.

And the blonde woman who initially appeared to be too busy texting to do anything for the child…well, she stepped up, removing her coat and giving it to "Johannes."

The video ends by asking the viewer if they would do something for a freezing child and then links to the charity's website.
