There’s No Better Way to Spend a Few Minutes Right Now Than Watching This Teary-Eyed Soldier Hold His Baby Girl for the First Time
March 06, 2014
"I knew the tears were coming."
You can’t blame a soldier for getting a little emotional when he’s finally reunited with his family after months away from home.
Lt. Daniel Pauley, who left for Afghanistan the same week he found out his wife was pregnant, was greeted at the Sacramento International Airport by three beautiful blonde daughters, a wife and a baby girl who he’d never even held in his arms.
After hugs and kisses from his kids and wife, Pauley finally got the chance to hold his baby daughter, Emma. The moment was beautiful.
Written on his daughter’s shirt were the words: “I’ve waited my whole life to meet you Daddy.”
“I knew the tears were coming,” he told CBS Sacramento. “I felt them on the plane ride just thinking about them.”
Pauley’s wife, Vanessa, has been raising the couple’s four daughter in Galt, Calif., while her husband was overseas.
“She’s remarkable. They say the family is the unsung heroes because we go and do our thing and they are the ones that got to make the big adjustments,” the soldier said.
The family will now enjoy the time they have with dad home.
