We Totally Did Not See the End of This Ad Coming

A new television ad produced for audiences in Australia contains a surprise ending that we have to admit caught us completely off guard.

The commercial, titled “Aussie Builders surprise public with loud empowering statements,” begins with a strange question: “What happens when Aussie builders aren’t themselves?”

What happens next is...different.

The ad focuses on a handful of construction workers who have taken a break from their work to shout supportive and encouraging words at passing women.

“Hey!” one worker shouts at an unsuspecting woman. “That color really works on you. Have a productive day!”

“You want to hear a filthy word?” another builder shouts, addressing yet another random woman. “Gender bias!”

“I’d like to show you the respect you deserve!” a worker shouts.

Another adds to the chorus of surprise encouragement: “I appreciate your appearance is just one aspect of who you are!”

But then the ad hits the viewer with a surprising punch line. We could describe it, but that would ruin it. You’ll just have to see for yourself:

Yeah, we didn’t expect that either.
