What the Founder of a Major Italian Restaurant Chain Allegedly Did to Get a Bottle of Wine Landed Him In Jail

The co-founder of Italian chain restaurant Carrabba was arrested Thursday night and charged with burglary after police say he broke into a Texas winery and took a bottle of wine.

According to the Statesman, the Hays County Sheriff's said Damian Mandola, 61, was arrested on a burglary charge for broke into a Driftwood winery for a bottle of red wine.

The 61-year-old was released from jail on a $5,000 bond the next day, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Police initially responded to the scene after someone called authorities to report an individual driving erratically near the winery.

Mandola opened the popular Italian chain with his nephew Johnny Carrabba in 1986.
