The Surprising Thing Barbara Walters Says ‘The View’ Needs to Have Going Forward

ABC’s “The View” needs to have a “conservative voice” again so the show can “present a different side,” Barbara Walters said in a new interview with Variety.

Walters, who is leaving the show in May, said there is some “experimenting” going on regarding the future of “The View.” With Elisabeth Hasselbeck gone, there is really no longer a conservative point of view on the program — which even Walters agrees needs to be addressed.

“Sometimes we think we should add a man,” she said, but added the show needs a “conservative voice” to “present a different side.”

Walters also left the door open to her possibly returning to do some work with ABC.

“If the president came on, depending on the circumstances, I might come back. If Fidel Castro said I will do an interview with you, which he has not in 25 years, I would go off and do it,” she said.
