Beck's Inspiring Message for Those Who Are Struggling: This Is the Weekend 'You're Supposed to Change Your Life

On his radio program Friday, Glenn Beck had a message for all those who are struggling in life.

"Listen to me," he said. "I know how hard it is. I know how dark it is. I know how alone you feel. I know how insignificant or how guilty you might feel, how tired you are. I get it."

"There's no such thing as a coincidence, and you are listening to this broadcast for a reason," he continued. "This weekend is the weekend you're supposed to change your life. This is the weekend that you are supposed to say, 'Okay, I'm starting all over.'"

Beck said that without the redemptive power of Jesus, and the "faith, hope, and love" that Jesus brought, he would not have been able to change his own life.

After years of battling alcoholism, Beck made dramatic changes in 1994, and said he had a dream in 1996 that profoundly impacted him. He explained that while he was in a much better place by 1996, he still had not made peace with many hardships.

"I saw behind me was this storm, this massive storm," Beck said, recalling his dream. "And it was black and undulating and almost a black hole, drawing me in. And I looked at that, and I turned from it."

Beck said that's when an old man wearing "tattered and dirty" clothing appeared to ask him where he was going. When Beck said he didn't know, the old man told him he had to go through the storm.

"I said, 'that will kill me!'" Beck remarked. "And he said, 'No, you have to go through the storm. Let me show you what's on the other side.' He reached out his hand -- I don't know how we got there, but we had gone through the storm and were on the other side. We were flying; we were up above everything. I could see the other side of the road that I couldn't see [before], because the storm was blocking it ... Everything was in technicolor. I had never seen a dream so vivid as this."

Beck said he only really looked at the old man for a "fraction of a second" before waking up, but that he appeared to be "made of light."

"That dream changed my life," Beck concluded. "I had faith. I had hope. And I had witnessed love. This is the weekend to change your life, and begin again."
