"Our little hero."
A Chicago 6-year-old is being called a hero after he took action that prevented his friend from being kidnapped.
Kaylen Woodard and his 10-year-old neighbor, Marcy, were playing in front of their homes Thursday when a man approached and grabbed Marcy.
“The only way she got away is because I kicked him in the back of the leg and the outside of his leg,” Woodard told WLS-TV.
"He tried to hold her mouth," the boy added.

The girl's mother ran out of the house after the incident, but the man had already fled.
"I'm very proud of him," Diana Blakely, Woodard's mother, told WLS. "I can't stop talking about him. I'm still in a state of shock by him being so young and he did that for a friend. That's amazing."
Marcy's mom, Tracey Edwards, said they call Woodard "our little hero."

Police issued an alert for residents of the Chicago Lawn neighborhood after the attempted abduction.
WLS reported that the man is possibly a white or Hispanic male between 18 and 20 years old, who was driving a white convertible with red seats.
