Man Caught in Heart-Wrenching Photo Trying to Ditch Dog Explains Why He Did It In Bizarre Interview

A man captured in a heart-wrenching image trying to abandon his dog explained in a bizarre interview why he did it Tuesday.

Speaking with KERO-TV, the dog's owner Daniel Sohn denied ditching his dog.

"Yes that is my car and my dog," he said. "I actually dropped him off and he followed me because we have a bit of a bond."

"Well I didn't ditch him. I actually dropped my dog off at the shelter where I did pick him up at. I actually gave my dog a choice if he wanted to be with me or possibly find an owner he might feel better with," Sohn added.

Sohn, who might face animal cruelty charges for his actions, was caught on a now-viral photo abandoning his dog at a shelter without filling out any paperwork.. Witnesses report that he even hit the animal at one point.

"I didn't accidentally hit him," he told KERO. "He jumped in front of my car but I felt he was triggered to do so as if like he was a mechanism of the surrounding people."

Sohn now has a date to appear in court, in connection with the incident.
